To this end, we are thrilled to announce a wide-ranging developer reward of FLT tokens to over 100,000 GitHub accounts. This initiative is not merely a distribution of tokens; it's a call to action for developers around the world to join us in pioneering the future of decentralized technologies.

Developer Reward Details
5% of the FLT supply is allocated to ~110,000 developers who contributed to open source Web3 repositories during last year. Public keys of selected Github accounts were added into a smart contract on Ethereum.
Here are some important features of the Fluence developer reward:
- It is trustless - it can be claimed directly from the chain and that's why it is not just a website with a auth button via GitHub, but requires generating proof off chain
- It is 12 months long, as we would like to ensure that the maximum number of people who are eligible for rewards to learn about them throughout the year and claim them
- Has halving every 3 month, as we would like to reward early claimers more, as they will contribute more value to the protocol in this way
- Has 2 months lock up since claim to ensure the token supply grows smoothly
We allocated the reward to 100,000 active developers in the Web3 community who contributed to any public open source Web3 repository. The database was sourced from the Electric capital developer report. We’ve also included Fluence friends, followers, stargazers and contributors (thank you all!).
The rationale behind this reward is simple: we believe that the path to a decentralized internet is paved by the builders, innovators, and dreamers who dare to reimagine what's possible. By providing developers with the resources they need to create on our platform, we are accelerating the adoption of decentralized technologies, laying the groundwork for an internet that is truly of the people, by the people, and for the people.
How It Works
The Fluence Developer Reward is a Merkle tree whose root is in the reward contract developed for the reward. This allows the owner of an eligible Github account, i.e., a Github account with a published public key, to claim the Reward.
The public keys of an eligible Github account are used to create ECDSA private keys.
Each private key is then used to create an Ethereum account. All the eligible accounts are added to a Merkle tree. The root of the Merkle tree is committed to the chain. In order to be able to claim the Reward reward agains the Merkle tree references, users need to generate a proof that attests to their ownership of a particular GitHub account represented via the (derived) account address. To this end, the proof generator you run **locally** and, if desired, off-line, utilizes your private ssh key to generate the Merkle proof necessary to validate an account's inclusion in the Merkle tree.
The Merkle proof is the output of the prover you run on your local machine.
